The Franklin County Sheriff's Department is investigating a homicide north of Ozark Tuesday night about 8:30pm. The Sheriff's Department received a 911 call of a female found dead at a home in the 12,000 block of State Highway 219 north of Ozark. The white female, in her mid 40's, was found by a friend who went to check on the female after she was not able to get in contact with her. The friend found the female unresponsive and phoned 911. The identity of the female is not being released at this point because authorities are still contacting next of kin. The body will be sent to the Medical Examiner for an autopsy according to investigator Robert Limbocker, he would not elaborate on a possible cause of death at this point. It has been reported that the female was shot to death. Authorities do report that several weapons were found at the home. The Sheriff's Department said that there is no threat to the area, that this is believed to have been an isolated incident. Sheriff Boen has said that there is only one suspect being investigated in connection with the homicide.
Also Tuesday night we received several calls about the large police presence at the Garden Walk apartments in Ozark. Law enforcment reported that they had responded to the apartments with information that a suspect in the homicide north of Ozark was at one of the apartments in the Garden Walk complex. The unit in question was searched and no suspect was located there.
In what appears to be a related story, 2 white males were arrested in Van Buren last night after the vehicle they were in rammed into a State Troopers cruiser. The incident happened at the intersection of Williams St. and North 20th in Van Buren. Crawford County authorities were responding to that area after receiving a call from Franklin County that a murder suspect was possibly headed to a home on Williams St. in Van Buren. The two suspects from that incident are in custody in Crawford County this morning. It is believed that the crash suspects have been questioned in connection with the Franklin County Homicide. Only one of the two is reported to be a suspect in the Franklin County murder.
