Franklin County authorities responded to a call of horses being neglected over the weekend north of Ozark on State Highway 219. The Franklin County Sheriff's Department was responding to a call of neglected and starving horses in the 11,000 block of East State Highway 219. When the deputy arrived he noticed that six horses were there and looked neglected and had no source of food. Authorities also learned the owner of the horses was a Franklin County resident who was wanted on a felony warrant. The Humane Society was contacted and took possession of the horses with assistance from another organization. All but one of the horses was located, the only horse not taken was reported to be missing from the property. The investigation is ongoing.
