Authorities in Waterloo Iowa report that a 34 year old Robert Joseph Shannon was shot to death on December 14th. Shannon's body was found in a car with a gunshot wound to the back of the head. Police had received calls of a vehicle that was running and had been parked for several hours with a subject sitting on the driver's side. It is believed that Shannon had been there several hours before he was located. Montez Capels age 21, a black male of Waterloo Iowa has been arrested in connection with the investigation. No weapons were found at the scene of the shooting, but authorities believe that two were aquaintances and that Caples may have been upset with Shannon because of an argument Shannon had with friends of Caples earlier. Shannon had just been released from prison in June of this year after serving a 3 year sentence for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in Oklahoma. Capels lives only a few blocks from where the vehicle and body were found, and authorities were led to Capels after checking phone records.
