A Booneville man was arrested Friday, Escaped and was arrested again in Paris. Chief Deputy David Spicer told KDYN News late Friday that a Booneville man who escaped from a Booneville PD officer was arrested near the detention center in Paris. Spicer said the suspect was in custody as a suspect in the Sexual Assault investigation in Booneville earlier in the week. The officer had brought the suspect to the detention center in Paris when an altercation between the officer and suspect took place in the parking lot and the suspect was able to escape custody. Area law enforcement were dispatched to the location and within a short period of time the suspect was back in custody. Spicer said the suspect was captured when he attempted to cross a creek near the old armory, but the water was too high to allow him to get across and when he came back out of the creek he was arrested by a Paris PD Officer. The Booneville officer was reported to have been taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He was treated and released. The suspect is facing aggravated assault and rape charges in connection with the Assault at a Booneville business, additional charges are expected for the escape.
