City County Agreement Detailed

A mediation session on Monday in Fort Smith has resulted in an agreement between the City of Charleston and Franklin County that will keep a pending lawsuit from going to trial in February. The terms of the settlement are this:
1) Charleston will pay Franklin County $30,000 for past dispatching services through 2011.
2) Charleston will pay a flat fee of $6,500 per year for a 5 year period for dispatching services by Franklin County. The rate will be adjusted after 2 years and 4 years based on the Southern Consumer Price Index.
3) Franklin County will install 2 repeaters on the tower currently being constructed at Charleston within the next 6 to 12 months.
The agreement was reached Monday afternoon with the mediator which was employed by both entities at the direction of the special judge in charge of the lawsuit.
