The City of Altus faxed a notice to KDYN Monday morning warning Altus Water Customers of a possible scam targeting water customers. Mayor Stacy said that residents were recieving by mail a notice that appears to be some sort of water line repair insurance. The copy faxed to us by the Mayor shows a heading with the statement - Important Information Regarding Your Water Service Line. The Mayor points out that this is not associated with the City of Altus in any way and appears to be from an business out of Little Rock Arkansas operating under the name of HomeServe. The notice indicates that the resident is not covered by water line coverage and has a detachable section to provide credit card information or pay by check for a monthly, quarterly or annual fee for insurance. While it is not known if this is legitamate business or a scam, the Mayor wants resident's to know that it is not associated with the City of Altus.
