Authorities were called to another fatal structure fire in Franklin County early this morning. The call came in at 2:15am at 1225 North Roseville in Altus at the corner of Smitherman and Roseville. The call came from a neighbor that noticed the fire, when authorities arrived on the scene the house was engulfed in flames. Altus Police Chief John Barbour reports that the home was a total loss and that a body was located in the remains of the structure. Chief Barbour said they believe the body is that of Brian Allen Darter age 25 of Altus, who lived at the home with a friend. Barbour said the body will be sent to the medical examiner to confirm the identity. Darter's next of kin has been notified of the fire and death. It is believed that Darter was dropped off at his home between midnight and 1am this morning. The friend that lives with Darter is reported to be out of town. The home, owned by Darter's grandmother, Mary Darter, was a total loss. A cause is not known at this point, but Barbour speculated that it may have been electrical related, it appears the fire started in the west end of the house. Chief Barbour said the Arkansas State Police has taken over the investigation, the scene has been secured. Agencies at the scene included the Altus Fire Department, Franklin County Sheriff's Department and Altus Police.
